Cindy Anderson: Founder of Petal and Thread

I have been a crafter - or what's now known as a maker - for as long as I can remember. I began with embroidery as a child, learned to sew as a teenager, and then progressed to other fabric-related projects throughout the years.

When my youngest son became engaged a few years ago, I asked my then future daughter-in-law if she would consider allowing me to make flowers for her wedding. She agreed (brave woman!), and I then began work on my biggest project ever.... handcrafting ALL of their wedding party, ceremony backdrop, and reception flowers! Creating realistic-looking flowers from various fabrics, ribbon and lace was a huge endeavor, and from it grew a truly heartfelt passion.

As a gardener, I adore the beauty and fragrance of fresh flowers. But, sadly, they can be quite expensive while lasting for only such a short time. I want to give brides an alternative choice - one that will last much longer, and may perhaps even become a cherished keepsake from their memorable wedding day. My hope is that you get as much love out of these flowers as I put into making them!
